What is the application process?

- What are the scholarship award details?
The 50th Anniversary Subway Scholarship is a 50 percent scholarship that will be awarded to two Subway employees. The Scholarship covers 50% of the cost of tuition for the credits needed by the student to complete an online undergraduate degree at Kaplan University, with a maximum value of $33,390 for a bachelor's degree or $16,695 for an associate's degree. If the Scholarship recipient is eligible for a reduced tuition rate due to military status, the award amount will be based on that reduced tuition rate. Technology fees and program-specific fees, including those for background checks, are the responsibility of the Scholarship recipient.
- What are the general elibility requirements?
• Must complete and submit the 50th Anniversary Subway Scholarship Application no later than October 31st 2015.
• Must be U.S.-based, full- or part-time Subway team member including sandwich artists, store managers, franchisees, FWH employees, DAs, and Field Consultants with at least six months of service.
• Must be a first-time enrollee or currently enrolled student in an eligible online undergraduate degree program at Kaplan University.
• Must meet all Kaplan University admissions requirements for the online undergraduate degree program, including GED or high school equivalent.
• New students must start classes no later than 90 days after award notification. Failure to enroll and start classes before the end of the specified 90 days will result in loss of scholarship and an alternative winner will be named by the Center for Scholarship Administration. - What are the Scholarship Terms and Conditions?
• If the student meets all the eligibility criteria to qualify, the Scholarship will be applied at the end of each term as a tuition credit, fees are not included.
• The Scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other Kaplan University tuition reduction, grants, vouchers, or scholarships. The Scholarship covers tuition, and will only be used toward the cost of tuition of an online undergraduate degree.
• Awards are limited to one per student, and are not transferable.
• For a current student, the Scholarship is not retroactive to prior terms and cannot be applied to a current or prior balance. If a student has a current or outstanding balance, as a condition of Scholarship eligibility the balance must be paid in full prior to the term in which the Scholarship would be awarded.
• If transferring in credits from other institutions, official transcripts must be received by the last day of the first term to be eligible for the 50th Anniversary Subway® Scholarship. If the transcript is not received by the last day of the first term, the student will not eligible for 50th Anniversary Subway® Scholarship and will be responsible for full tuition costs.
• The Scholarship application, review and award process will be maintained and managed by the Center for Scholarship Administration. Kaplan University is not responsible for the selection of the Scholarship winner.
NOTE:
1. Scholarship disbursement eligibility cannot be regained by the student once it is lost.
2. Kaplan University reserves the right to amend scholarship policies or awards, or discontinue granting scholarships to additional students at any time. - What are the requirements for continued eligibility?
• To remain eligible, the student must maintain a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.5 out of 4.0 for the duration of their program at Kaplan University. If the student does not maintain a 2.5 CGPA, he or she will not be eligible to receive the scholarship.
• Must enroll in a minimum of one course per term.
• If a student fails and retakes a course, Scholarship money will not be re-awarded for that course.
• Must remain in good financial standing with Kaplan University.
• Must meet Kaplan University standards for satisfactory academic progress as outlined in the University Catalog.
• Must be continuously enrolled at Kaplan University. Students who withdraw or are dismissed will no longer be eligible for the Scholarship; however, allowances are made for students to retain the Scholarship if they are on leave of absence consistent with policy stated in the University Catalog or Kaplan University's Military Leave of Absence policy.
• The Scholarship recipient retains the scholarship award until completion of their specified program of study, provided eligibility is maintained: no annual reapplication is required and no reapplication is required for a maximum of one change of program. - When is the deadline for submission of materials?
You must accept the Scholarship Terms and Conditions and complete the online application by October 31st. No exceptions will be made to the deadline.
- What is the value of the scholarship award?

How are winners selected?
An independent Scholarship Selection Committee will consider the reponses to the application essay questions, educational goals, and career ambitions of each applicant.
Neither Subway® nor Kaplan University are involved in the scholarship selection process. -
How will I be notified if I am chosen as a recipient?
The email address or contact information provided on the application will be used to notify all of the complete applicants of the decisions of the committee.
